It wasn’t very funny, and it didn’t really reflect on the characters pasts’ much; I felt that with those particular characters, their backgrounds could’ve made it a more interesting read.
But that’s about it. Doch leider hat es mir nicht gefallen. On the surface I shouldn’t have liked this book. Except that Lambert didn’t particularly seem to want her love or her cherishing.
Fleur Daxeny picks up rich men at their wife’s funeral. She’s beautiful, charming, cunning, and more than a little ruthless.
La signora dei funerali Madeleine Wickham. I think the author was trying to do too many things at once, lay signroa too much character development and subplots — and not very succinctly, msdeleine Ancora una volta, da vera professionista, Fleur riesce a far breccia nel cuore del povero vedovo, ma le cose non vanno esattamente come lei aveva previsto Read and find out.
Thanks for telling us about the problem. Unfortunately, she failed to explore the full edi of I really, really wanted to give this book 4 stars. And is Richard really that much of an idiot? I picked this up so that I could have a “fluffy book” to read over the holidays, one that Sugnora could just pick up and read without doing much thinking. Which version of security will Fleur choose? I found this development of characters and how they were developed to a different degrees nice in some scenes, but annoying in other parts.
In terms of characters, Fleur is the only one who doesn’t seem to progress. One thing leads to another, and before long she is using their credit card to rack up enormous shopping sprees before moving on to her next target.
I found it intriguing that Wickham brought the same concept into her book.
Rumors fly, drama ensues, and Fleur has to weigh the costs of having to put up with this crazy family against the money she could potentially gain if she sticks it out just a little bit longer. She might not have to put up with this crap after all. Now this book probably obviously wasn’t written for a 40 year old bloke with a bald head who likes football and Newcastle Brown Ale drunk straight from the bottle.
No menial job or boring suburban housewife fate for her! Want to Read Currently Reading Read.
Unfortunately, she failed to explore the full potential of expanding those intriguing characters. The second half was really good. Madeleine Wickham, who is Sophie Kinsella’s alter auteur She blossoms with the cheerful companionship of Fleur.
What pleased me even more was that Madeleine Wickham takes a darker, deeper look into her characters than her Sophie Kinsella books offer. Given 3 stars or a rating of “Good. Fei 1 question about The Gatecrasher…. What happened between Zara and Fleur that made Fleur changed her mind entirely about leaving Richard for good? Ma quando si imbatte nel noioso e prevedibile Richard Favour alla commemorazione dell’amata moglie, qualcosa cambia.
When I started reading this I knew I was going to love it but I figured as it was chick-lit, it would be pretty predictable.

It wasn’t very funny, and it didn’t really reflect on the characters pasts’ much; I absolutely LOVE Sophie Kinsella, so when I found out that that was just a pseudonym and that Madeleine Wickham had written other books, I was thrilled! I liked Richard and his family. With her daughter involved and asking questions, about her past, Fleur’s past, and being ready for a change.
The story ended very strangely without finishing all the plots. I felt that Fleur developed negative feelings for the Favour family, instead of developing friendships and love for them. Real charm wasn’t the gushing and kisses of the frosted women at the golf club. A book by Sophie Kinsella writing as Madeleine Wickham.
Read this if you want to have a good, juicy time – This book has all the fun elements you will find in Sophie Kinsella’s work. A bubble of laughter was still at the back of her throat. She felt enlivened; out of breath; almost overcome. This is darker than a typical Kinsella book, built more on irony and human nature, greed. Nov 03, Chanel rated it it was ok.
