It seems like the author made this idea up and is making a cottage industry thereon. Many apples really are kind of red. I tried for years to get into this book. Japanese and Korean companies already apply fuzzy technology to the tune of billions of dollars a year in such products as air conditioners instead of producing an all-or-nothing blast of cold air, fuzzy air conditioners constantly adjust to the guzzy temperature in the room and emit a corresponding degree of cooling air ; computers; cameras and camcorders; auto engines, brakes, transmissions, and cruise controls; ufzzy elevators; washing machines and dryers; microwave ovens; and televisions.

Want to Read saving…. Bah – now I feel dirty having got annoyed by this book! Most of the book is a lengthy, lame, boring and fuzzy introduction to the concept of fuzziness.

Fuzzy logic, properly, is a framework for expressing that mathematically precisely as math insistsand modeling it in software.

The New Science of Fuzzy Logic. For a math book this was actually pretty accessible. But while reading his book i really liked to ask him to cool down. Unfortunately, he decided to make up a subject, and even after he did that, he forgot to stick to it.
Undoubtedly, as a hyper-intellectual hippie sort of character, he decided thinkig needed some pop-science publishing history to back up his academic credentials. While not a fuzzy activist, I recognized while reading that long ago I adopted mostly fuzzy mosko, meaning all things are relative.
This guy decided to stay in the academic trenches and bleat about how much more mature he is than the old school, while carrying on with all the nasty academic in-fighting crap he supposedly looks down upon.
